The special camping programme of the school for the year 2009-2010 was conducted from 20/12/2009 to 26/12/2009 at G.V.H.S.S (Sports) Kannur and in the Talap East ward of the Kannur Municipality. The lodging facility for the volunteers was arranged at the sports division hostel of the school.

INAUGURAL SESSION
The volunteers assembled in the school at 10:00 a.m. The campus was cleaned and the stage was set for the programme. The inaugural ceremony was held at 2:00 p.m. The ward councillor, Sri Prasanth Babu inaugurated the function. The Programme Officer welcomed the gathering. The Kannur District Co-ordinator of N.S.S, Sri Babu P.P. was the chief guest of the function. The Principal presided over the function. The staff secretary and other members of the staff participated in the function.
After that, the volunteers visited the Apollo Clinic and the doctors discussed with them the details of the medical camp to be held on 22/12/2009. Then there was an orientation class on N.S.S which was handled by the Programme Officer. After that, there was the ice-breaking session which included grouping and was followed by cultural activities by the various groups.

In the morning, the volunteers took up the cleaning work of the road in the Talap East ward, which is the adopted area of the N.S.S unit, for this year. In the afternoon, they visited the houses in that area and gave awareness about the medical camp. In the evening, there was cultural programme.
22/12/2009
A medical camp was conducted in association with the Apollo Clinic, Kannur. Dr. Anil Sundaresan, Dr. Sruthi and Miss. Megha, dietician took classes on the various aspects and the prospects of Holistic medicine in the treatment of Diabetes. Then the blood of those who wanted a blood test done for free sugar detection was collected.
In the afternoon, there was a class on plastic waste disposal by Sri C. K. Babu, TSG Member of the TSC of the Govt. of Kerala. Then the volunteers interacted with the inhabitants of the area. They arranged food for the volunteers and all the people had food together in the open ground and it was a very good experience to the volunteers.

The volunteers undertook the survey work on the total electrification programme of the Energy Mission, Kerala. In the afternoon, there was a class on Life Skills by Sri. Sajith Paleri, GHSS Pilikkode. In the evening, the volunteers conducted cultural programme.

In the morning session, there was a class on Leadership Training by Sri Mahesh of Jaycees, Iritty. In the afternoon, the volunteers were taken for a field visit to the Western India Plywoods, Valapattanam, the second largest Plywoods factory in Asia. Then the volunteers were taken to the chaal beach.

In the morning, the volunteers continued the survey work. In the afternoon, there was a class on the Panchayath governing system. The ex-Panchayath President of Chelora Gramapanchayath, handled the class. Then, there was Christmas celebration. In the night, there was campfire.

CLOSING CEREMONY
In the morning, the volunteers gave their opinion about the camp in the evaluation session. The closing ceremony started at 11:00a.m. It was inaugurated by Smt. M.C. Sreeja, the Standing Committee Chairperson of the Kannur Municipality. The volunteers described their camp experiences. The principal welcomed the gathering. The ward councilor was the president of the function. The certificates were distributed to the volunteers. Prizes were given to the best campers and the best performers of the camp. The wall magazine that was prepared by the volunteers was also published during the function. The function came to an end and the volunteers left with their parents by 12:30 p.m.
